Give Your Valentine More Than Just Roses.

When considering an investment book as a gift it pays to do some research? Amongst the myriad of titles and authors you will find a lot of information overlap, some books rate purely as vanity publishing and even worse, some books exist merely as a “hook” to sell products and promote websites.

Having been in the book business 13 years, specialising in investment and business books, I feel I can speak with some authority about books that teach, inform and guide the investor or trader on this journey.

Let’s break the share market into two forms of analysis – fundamental and technical.

Fundamental analysis is looking at the financial health of a company. Long used by stock brokers when advising their clients, investors are now using this discipline and undertaking their own research. Whilst time consuming, investors are reaping the rewards. But how and where do you start? One of the most respected and informative books on the subject are “Valu.Able” written by Roger Montgomery. If it is your desire to understand how to calculate the intrinsic value of a company and looking to find undervalued companies in the share market, then this is the book for you.

My next blog will look at technical analysis.
